This piece faithfully recreates the shibi of Yakushi-ji Temple's New Golden Hall in Nara — crafted by a master onishi (demon tile sculptor) in Ogawa-machi, Saitama, using the exact same clay and kiln process as real roof tiles. This piece adds a further layer of meaning: a Sanskrit character representing your zodiac sign (eto), carved above the face. In Japanese Buddhist tradition, each zodiac sign corresponds to a guardian deity — making this not merely a decorative object, but a personal talisman.
